Connecting America's digital infrastructure to the prosperity of the places that host it.
We research, document, and promote the economic and community benefits that data-center development can bring to rural America.
Through independent research, public education, and constructive engagement with technology companies and local communities, we seek to connect the growth of America's digital infrastructure with the long-term prosperity of the places that host it.
What we believe
Data centers can be the means of a rural renaissance, a new industrialization for rural communities. The success of those communities and the success of the technology companies building there should rise together.
How we work
We rely on public records and published reporting, cite every figure and note open questions and local disputes where they exist.
What we don't do
We do not support or oppose candidates for public office, and lobbying is not a substantial part of our activities.
Our first initiative
The Rural Data Center Community Impact Project is building an independent, evidence-based picture of how data-center development affects rural American communities.
Editorial independence
We believe data center development done well is good for rural communities and for the companies that build there, and we work toward both. Our supporters share that goal, and the evidence decides what we publish. We work to counter misinformation about data centers by checking claims against the public record and publishing what we find. Every figure links to its source so anyone can check it.
Organization status
Rural Americans for Data Centers is incorporated as a nonprofit corporation in Missouri and organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. Its application for recognition of tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) is pending with the IRS.
